Day 1

As my introduction to Tallinn I arrived early in the morning when it is freezing. I will be staying close to 5 days here because well it is new year. So I took it relatively easy. For this day I only visited the Maritime Museum, I really enjoyed the exhibit. One of the exhibits simulate water pressure and it helped me appreciate the concept of barotrauma. Day 2 New Years Eve

So for this day I saw a few really cute birds, hanging outside Viru. I end up heading to the Maritime Museum at Fat Margaret, and sat the boat I will be taking to head to Finland. I also briefly visited a prison museum and saw the inhumane situation that the dissenters were imprisoned in.

I did walk past a lot of pro-Russian protest, I was a little curious and it became clear when I checked my map and this is the Russian embassy. The Old Town area was quite beautiful and I saw quite a bit of buildings. Before new year I visited the Vabamu Museum of Occupations and Freedom, they showcase a lot of how life was like in various occupations, they even have an old Soviet drink dispenser that is still functional.

As the year came to a close I joined the Estonian New Year festival, I thought it was really cool even through I didn’t really understand much, someone important I think the prime minister of Estonia appeared on screen to give a speech and everyone is cheering. This was my first year spending new years outside of Singapore.
